Launch Site Map Overlay
ShippedSee Every Rocketry Club on Your Map
AltosUI displays rocketry launch sites as circle overlays directly on the flight map. Hundreds of club sites from around the world appear as tappable regions, so you can see at a glance which site you're flying at, find nearby clubs when traveling, or simply explore what's out there.
What You See
Each launch site appears as a shaded circle on the map, centered on the site's coordinates. Tap a site circle to reveal its name and website link. The circles are sized to represent a typical launch field boundary, giving you a visual sense of the site's footprint.
When trackers overlap with a site circle, tapping the site toggles the visibility of flight annotations within it — useful on busy launch days when multiple rockets crowd the same area and you want to focus on one at a time.
How to Use It
- Open the Map tab
- Make sure Show Launch Sites is enabled in Settings
- Zoom out to see sites in your region, or zoom in to see the one you're flying at
Tap any site circle to see the site name. Tap again to hide the label. The site database includes clubs across North America, Australia, Europe, and beyond.
Tip: If you're traveling to a new launch site, check the map before you go. The site circle shows you exactly where to find the field, and the website link connects you to the club's page for waivers, schedules, and directions.
When It Works Best
On launch day, the site overlay helps orient you on the map — you can see your trackers relative to the field boundary. It's also a handy planning tool when scouting new clubs or coordinating launches across multiple sites in a region.
What You Need
- An internet connection for the initial site list download (cached locally after first load)
- Show Launch Sites enabled in app settings
The site database refreshes automatically and is stored locally, so the circles appear even when you're offline at the field.
